FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

spacebands answers the most common questions about wearable safety technology, HAVS and noise monitoring, data privacy, pricing and deployment.

If your workforce operates in high-risk environments, these answers will help you understand how to reduce incidents, protect workers and demonstrate compliance.

Do spacebands devices track the location of individual workers?

No, spacebands are built with employee privacy in mind. Our devices do not contain a GPS tracker or Wi-Fi connectivity. Our devices are built for safety performance improvements exclusively.

What data is collected on the wearable device?

Exposure to loud noise and hand arm vibration, near miss and accident data is collected via the wearable. The devices do not record conversations and they do not have GPS functionality - so they can't track workers movements.

How will implementing spacebands devices save my company money?

spacebands reduces direct and indirect safety costs by preventing accidents before they occur and by providing defensible safety records when incidents do happen.

Typical savings come from:
• Reduced days lost to injury and illness
• Lower accident investigation and admin time
• Fewer insurance claims and reduced premiums
• Stronger legal defence through objective safety data
• Improved productivity through reduced absenteeism

You can estimate your potential savings instantly using our ROI calculator.

Can I compare my saved data against industry benchmarks?

Yes. You can compare the saved data in your spacebands dashboard against industry averages. Your data is always protected, no other company will ever know how you are performing. You can also add other departments/sites in your organisation to the dashboard and see how you perform in relation to each other.

Does spacebands help with HSE and OSHA compliance?

Yes. spacebands is designed to support compliance with UK HSE, OSHA and international occupational safety regulations related to hand-arm vibration, noise exposure and workplace risk management.

The system provides auditable exposure data, automated reporting and documented intervention records, which are commonly requested during inspections, claims investigations and legal proceedings.

How do spacebands devices keep workers safe?

spacebands devices constantly monitor the working environment for hazards such as hand-arm vibration, excessive noise, proximity to moving machinery, PPE non-compliance and unauthorised access.

When a risk is detected, the wearable gives workers real-time alerts so they can move away, stop using equipment or take corrective action before an accident or overexposure occurs.

Every alert and near miss is logged and synced to the analytics dashboard, giving safety teams clear evidence of what is happening on site. This data helps you spot patterns, prioritise controls and prove that you are actively managing risk and protecting your workforce.

What makes spacebands better than competitor devices?

Most safety wearables focus on a single risk. spacebands simultaneously monitors multiple hazards including HAVS, noise and proximity risks, creating a unified safety data set rather than fragmented reports.

This allows organisations to:
• Identify compound risk patterns
• Prioritise interventions based on real exposure
• Demonstrate continuous improvement to regulators

The platform is scalable across large workforces and typically costs significantly less than deploying multiple single-purpose devices.

How difficult is it to roll spacebands out to an entire workforce?

spacebands has been designed to be rolled out at enterprise level with ease. We do not send engineers to your location, as we do not need to!

Devices can be set-up as soon as you have purchased them, before they have even been delivered.

Customising features and settings is easy and can be done through the desktop dashboard.

How do spacebands alert users and log data?

spacebands detect hazards like hand-arm vibration (HAV), loud noise, proximity risks, PPE non-compliance, and unauthorised access.

Here's how it works:
HAV & Noise Exposure: The wearable tracks data and uploads it to the dashboard upon charging. Alerts for exposure limits (EAV/ELV) can notify admins via email. Admins control who sees individual exposure data.
Proximity Warnings: Bluetooth signals from machinery beacons (e.g., forklifts) send real-time alerts to prevent collisions. Near-miss events are logged in the analytics dashboard.
PPE & Access Alerts: Real-time notifications remind users to wear PPE or warn them about unauthorized areas. These events are recorded and linked to the triggering beacon and wearable.

This system ensures safety insights are actionable and well-documented.

I don’t need all of the safety features for my business, can I remove some?

spacebands come with a full feature set as part of your package. You can choose whichever features you want to be active from your admin dashboard. We recommend leaving all features turned on as you will already have actionable data if you decide to use the data in the future.

Will the safety features still work in remote locations?

Yes, spacebands run a bluetooth mesh network, rather than relying on an internet connection. When the device was designed we spoke to Health and Safety Managers from some of the biggest companies in the world to ask what their pain points were. One of the main points was functionality.

spacebands will work whether you are on an oil rig in the middle of an ocean or deep in a mine. They are not reliant on an internet connection to keep your staff safe, if an internet server goes down with some of our competitor’s devices, they stop working - and if an accident takes place during that time - your company is open to legal action.

Am I being charged for all the features, even though I only need a few?

No, spacebands devices come as a package with full access to all safety features to ensure your staff are protected. spacebands are priced at a very low monthly subscription rate, so that even if you only use one feature, you still get great value for money.

Do you plan on adding more safety features in the future?

We are always open to new ideas, if you have a suggestion for a new feature you would like to see then please let us know by completing the feature suggestion form. You can also suggest changes to our current features if you have a specific use case.
